The word anime is the Japanese term for animation, which means all forms of animated media. Outside Japan, anime refers specifically to animation from Japan or as a Japanese-disseminated animation style often characterized by colorful graphics, vibrant characters and fantastical themes. The culturally abstract approach to the word's meaning may open up the possibility of anime produced in countries other than Japan. For simplicity, many Westerners strictly view anime as a Japanese animation product. Some scholars suggest defining anime as specifically or quintessentially Japanese may be related to a new form of Orientalism.


1.       What Got You Interested In Anime?

“To be honest, I’m not really a fan of watching anime. I prefer reading manga (comic) instead of seeing animations. I always read finish a manga before watching its anime. For me, watching the anime is just to see epic fight scenes, cool showdowns, colourful effects and touching moments. Not long ass conversations that makes me feel sleepy (even though the conversation is rather important).”

2.     What Is Your Favorite Anime?

“Naruto and Naruto Shippuden. There are many life lessons thought by the fictional characters and too much touching moments. I cried in a lot of the arcs (if you know what I’m talking about), especially Jiraiya vs Pain, Sasuke vs Itachi, the entire 4^th Shinobi War arc, the story of the three Ame orphans, Naruto vs Sasuke at the final valley, Hashirama vs Madara, Itachi’s Shinden…. too many to be listed. I’ll definitely recommend this series to you; 700 episodes/800 chapters is nothing for me and of course its nothing to you too. There’s a lot of epic fight scenes, a lot of memorable scenes, a lot of onions, a lot of stories and of course— a lot of cool (hot) characters :P”




3.   What Was The First Anime You Ever Watched?

“Uhhh… I would say Doraemon? Like who doesn’t watch Doraemon (in Malay dub) here? But if you say the first anime series I'd ever completed, its Digimon Frontier. I can't believe I was only standard 3 back then.”

4.  Who’s Your Favourite Anime Character? Why?

“Cough. Cough. Shhh… to those who’d knew. Ladies and gentlemen, I proudly present you Pikachu! Yay! In the entire Pokémon series, Pikachu can literally defeat any other monsters with his thunderbolt, including a legendary Pokémon. I remember Pikachu dealing damage to Arceus, a God tier Pokémon who can deflect all kind of attacks (even Dialga's, Palkia's) but Pikachu’s mere thunderbolt attack?! It’s hysterical but I still like that creature. He is super loyal to his trainer and the moment Ash died, he cried for him (I cried too). But you know, main characters will somehow have the plot armor protecting them.”

“Actually, it’s not Pikachu. I would cringe (and write 3 pages of reasons why I like him) if I admit my real favourite anime character. LOL.”

5.   If You Are In An Anime, What Powers Do You Want To Get?

“Six Paths if you watch Naruto. Imagine me Almighty Push-ing the school (means I will blow the entire school away with a huge gush of wind), summoning dogs that could multiply every time they’re killed, grow two more mechanical arms that shoot lasers, suck someone’s soul out of their body, pull a meteor down from space, uhhh… open portals to another dimensions and space shifting. It would be dope.”
